HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We hope everyone has a joyous, safe, happy thanksgiving for the next week. This past week we finished discussing financial goals for our heroes' businesses. We also played Monopoly so they could start getting used to giving change and making change while also handling money. This was a fun and different experience for everyone as some of our heroes have never played Monopoly before.

During our writers workshop we started reviewing the words we have learned thus far. In order to help memorize the action of writing and spelling the word; like muscle memory. We also used this time to read some stories as a group, reflect on the story and draw how the beginning of the story went, the middle and the end. We will continue using this reflection method when reading stories together.

Our learners have already started talking about the Christmas festivities and they are very excited for White Elephant in December. In order to prepare you, learners will not draw names until they come back from break, and the limit for the White Elephant will be $10. I understand White Elephant is called different things so let me give a brief description: everyone brings their gift securely wrapped so no one can tell what it is. Everyone puts their gift in a pile, and one by one pick a gift or “steal” a gift from someone else until there are no more gifts.
