January 14, 2022

We began the week where we left off the last one. Chess rules were being mastered. (Apparently, the King needs CPR (capture, protect, or run) when under check, or it is game over.) As for their focus on being more organized, their new mantra is: leave a place better than we found. It has been working very well. The mantra can be heard when a learner reminds another learner during studio maintenance. Today, our learners stepped outside and cleaned the garden. They were particularly proud of finding some plastic bags (“that could have ended up in oceans!”).

Rubber Duck: We introduced a rubber duck as a pre-guide, inspired by software developers who use it to troubleshoot code errors and bugs. Learners are finding some humor in it. It will be interesting to see how our learners interpret the concept and use it.

An end to another wonderful, learning-filled week.
